About the Work
My painting is rooted in the concept of art as a documentation of personal experience of, and response to, the built, natural, and social environments. The photo was photographed on Remembrance Day, 2007 and by chance the pamphlet on the pavement next to the covered figure has a double significance relating both to the remembered dead soldiers and the forgotten sleeper.
